About a dozen new local jobs will be created at Mulbourn Ltd, the company that recently bought out 18 former Folio Hotels.

Around 55 jobs were saved  two weeks ago in central support and central reservations at the company’s Swindon headquarters in Kembrey Park. The new jobs will be created as Mulbourn bases its entire central reservations department at the Swindon office.

Managing director Matthew Welbourn said: “It is positive that we are able to announce that we are creating some new jobs at a time when so many people are losing theirs due to the current financial climate.”

Mulbourn was launched earlier this month after 15 senior managers staged a management buyout of the former Folio Hotels, which was forced into administration at the end of December. The company is still trading under the Folio Hotels banner with additional financial backing for the venture provided by the hotel’s landlords, and private equity.

Mulbourn is forecasting a turnover of £48m in its first year of trading.
