Network Rail has just completed a lease on the whole of Western House in Swindon.
The seven storey 45,000 sq ft 1980s glazed office block which is one of the most prominent and iconic in the town centre was purchased by Warwickshire  based developer Loxton Developments in April 2007 and has been completely refurbished including a stunning double height glazed reception.
Joint letting agents were Keningtons (Simon Ormrod) and King Sturge (Jeremy Sutton) both based in Swindon.  Jeremy Sutton of King Sturge commented:  “It is not surprising Network Rail were tempted by Western House.  It is the only substantial office block in Swindon centre which has been completely modernised.  It has open plan space, excellent common areas, new energy efficient plant, good parking and a wonderful reception area. Swindon has been crying out for someone to have the courage to do a proper refurbishment.  Loxton have exceeded our expectations and provided a top quality product which is what occupiers are after”
Mark Roberts, managing director of Loxton Developments commented:  “Some years ago I had looked at other buildings in Swindon but the town centre seemed to be going nowhere.  But when I viewed Western House early last year Swindon seemed like a different place, with a sense of purpose, on the brink of real progress and change.
“The Council are absolutely committed to  regeneration and supportive of business and the New Swindon Company are helping to bring about some huge new developments which I felt would transform the town centre and help Western House.  So we took a chance and invested nearly £6m – which fortunately has paid off.  We are delighted to have Network Rail as a tenant.”
